Under the current educational system, the extracurricular activitiesdesigned for students are playing an increasingly important role. Therefore, among parents and teachers, there arises a controversy pertaining whetherteenage students should participate in various activities or focus on oneactivity. Towards such a long-running tug-of-war, I strongly recommend teenagersto engage in more kinds of activities, for the following reasons.

Initially, getting involved in more activities can be conducive to thewell-rounded development of students. It is self-evident that differentactivities can equip participants with various skills and abilities. Toillustrate, students attending musical classes can learn how to appreciate theclassical works of famous musicians and thus improve their aesthetic capability.Similarly, participating in team sports will help students cultivate a sense ofcooperation as well as enhance their leadership. After having obtained the aboveskills, students definitely can develop in an all-round way, with the result ofbecoming more competitive than others. In contrast, specializing in only onekind of activity is a totally different picture. In other words, students justfoster one particular skill, which is a potential obstacle to their futuredevelopment. The underlying reason is that the more and more complicated modernlife necessitates the acquisition of multiple skills.

Furthermore, taking part in many after-class activities can do a better jobin helping students find what they are interested in. Just as a saying goes, interest is the best teacher, which clearly indicates the great role played byinterest in all levels of education. The above claim is especially true of teenseducation, because they are in the puberty, the most rebellious period. Put itin another way, without the drive of their own interest, they are less likely toperform well in any activities required by their teachers. In this case, offering various activities to adolescents undoubtedly can more effectivelystimulate their interest and passion. Once they find what they like, they willautomatically put more efforts and time in it. However, requiring all teenagersto solely engage in one activities may fail to cater to the interest of themajorities of them.

All in all, we can draw the conclusion that it is a wiser move for studentsto attend multiple activities, in order to obtain a holistic development andfind what they are passionate for.

In their free time, young people (age14-18) spend time taking part indifferent activities such as music lessons or competitive sports. Some youngpeople devote their time in other kinds of activities. But other young peoplewill spend most of their time focusing on one activity that is important tothem. Which approach do you think is better?

The old saying “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” still remainsrelevant as it did centuries ago. The question of what kind of extra curriculumactivities should kids do after school has never failed to attract spotlight.Should they focus on one single activity or is it better for them to devotetheir time to various activities. Personally, I think it is in the kids’ bestinterest to get involved in multiple kinds of activities based on the followingreasons.

First off, doing various activities makes the kids bored and more extracurriculum activities mean that they enjoy a better chance to try differentthings and find their real interest. For instance, playing sports all the timewill probably drive the kids crazy since they can be very energy consuming andit might lead to injuries in their bones and joints. One’s meat might be others’poison, indeed nobody really knows what their preference lies in unless they aregiven the opportunities to do different activities. Actually switching from oneactivity to another gives the kids the opportunity to explore their realinterest and tap their unknown potential. A kid who lacks of flexibility andcoordination when doing sport might be talented in playing chess while one whocannot concentrate in the classroom might be very gifted in playing sports.Trying out different activities can help kids to find something they are reallyinterested in and eventually they can develop and build up confidence.

Additionally, students can develop lots of useful skills and release theirpressure in life and study if they do different activities. For example, playinggroup sports can help them to get comfortable teaming up with others and developcooperation awareness. This kind of experience and awareness can help them getprepared for future jobs since willingness to cooperate and coordinate isregarded as a very valuable quality and working together with others arenecessary for the future working environment. Plus, learning music and how toplay piano can help someone to develop a taste in music. Music can serve as asource of comfort and love, at the same time it is conducive to release negativeemotions like sorrow, depression and even anger.

In conclusion, it is more advisable for kids to do various activities sinceit helps kids to explore their interest and tap their potential, moreimportantly it can help kids to develop useful skills and get them prepared forfuture jobs.

With the masses increase in affluence and awareness, college students tendsto be spoiled with all kinds of well-equipped dorms. Private Jacuzzi, big screenTV set and even tanning salon are not rare on some college dorms. When it comesto the question of what the school should build in the dorm, I personally wouldsay it is in the students’ best interest to build an entertainment room for thefollowing reasons.

Admittedly, a quiet study room can provide a place for students to focus ontheir academic assignments and an exercising room affords them the opportunitiesto keep fit and stay in good shape, nonetheless, these facilities are redundantsince an above-average university has at least one decent library and arecreation center for students and faculty members. Thus, it is not necessary toinclude such facilities in the campus dorms, and there are obvious benefits tobuild an entertainment room with home theater sets and video game consoles.

First off, an entertainment room provides students a chance to get awayfrom busy life and study and switch off. As is known to all, college life can beoverwhelming, students are constantly under lots of academic pressure, likepresentations, group projects, final exams, so on and so forth. Barely do theyhave chance to release their pressure, fortunately with an entertainment room, they can watch movies or play video games together. As the saying goes, “allwork and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. Indeed, recent research on thecorrelation between leisure time and students’ academic performance conducted byNational Association of Psychiatrists shows that a student with certain amountof time spent in doing entertainment activities are observed to have highergrade than those who don’t. Consequently, entertainment room helps to improvestudents’ academic performance.

Additionally, an entertainment room provides a chance for students to catchup with their peers and bond more with one another. When playing video games orwatching movies together, not only can students escape from their busy schedule, but also they can get a chance to talk to other students who also live in thesame dorm building. Students who happen to live in the same dorm might havetotally different majors and areas of concentration, so connecting with eachother can help students to gain more exposure in other fields. Plus, studentscan use their moments in the entertainment room to get to know others who arefrom different regions of the country or even from other part of the globe, byinteracting with people who are from distinctive culture backgrounds studentscan broaden their horizons and have unique perspective on different things.Without an entertainment, students living on the same floor might be strangersfor four years, which can be a nightmare.

In conclusion, it is more advisable for the university to build anentertainment room since it provides students a chance to switch off, and alsostudents can catch up with their peers and bond more with one another.
