    托福考试作文独立写作范文:花长时间做重要决定是好品质吗

(A/D)Spending a long time in making an important decision is oftenconsidered as a bad quality. However, some people think that it is a goodquality for a person.

    举一反三:

A/D: One quality that a successful leader must have is to make decisionquickly; when a leader takes too much time to make decisions, he will be seen asineffective to the people he lead.

A/D: One quality that a successful leader must have isto make decision quickly; when a leader takes too much time to make decisions,he will be seen as ineffective to the people he lead.(来自学生回忆版,与原题可能有少许出入,但题干表达意思大体相同)

With the society becoming increasingly complex, we make numerous decisionsevery single day, some of which are simple while others of which are morecomplex. The issue whether Spending a long time in making an important decisionis often considered as a good quality has triggered a hot debate. Personallyspeaking, my answer towards this question is negative, that is, making quickdecision is good, for the following reasons.

First of all, making quick decisions can help people grasp the preciousopportunities. As is known to all, change is the permanent topic in nearly everyarea of life including day-to-day life and business world. In other words, theopportunities may vanish in the blink of an eye. As a result, people who spendmuch time pondering different paths for the fear of making errors may end upmissing out the chances. On the contrary, quick decision making will boost thelikelihood of seizing the opportunities, which makes his or her have an edgeover other competitors. This is especially true of the business competition. Inthe commercial world, To illustrate, a decisive leader will not blocksubordinates from getting things done and thus . For example, if an entrepreneurfind changes in the needs of customers, there is a need of quick decisions tosatisfy their new demand. Without quick response to the appeals of the clients, competitors around the same business may take the initiative to make headway inthese emerging markets.

Apart from that, making quick decicions reflects the strong ability ofanalysis of a person. As is common sense, analytical skills is a basis for quickdecision making. As you can see, an analytical skill is the ability of a personto draw conclusions and to make quality decisions based on incompleteinformation. Put it in another way, the characteristic of analytical people isto address all of the critical elements needed for a successful outcome morequickly than average persons can do. Consequently, these decisive people willleave a good impression on others and thus improve their charisma. By contrast, spending too much time in making decisions means that you can only make up yourmind after collecting all the information. This practice may make others feelthat you are hesitant in doing things.

Admittedly, some opponents may assert that it is a good quality to spend along time in decision-making, because the quality of the decision certainlydepends on the speed of making it. However, the above claim has overlooked afact that no matter how much time you spend making a decision, there is always achance that it won’t turn out the way you had envisioned. In this case, thequick decision making can help you more timely fix the wrong decisions.

In a nutshell, spending long time in decision making is anything but a goodquality, because people will let opportunities slip off and leave a indecisiveimpression on others.

    写作参考二:

An efficient leader is a key factor for the successful development of anenterprise and how to define an effective leader varies from person to person. Some people may believe a leader must make a quick decision to be successfulsince opportunity seldom knocks twice. However, some others contradict with thestatement and they argue that leaders, especially those in the area of politicsand business, have to be patient enough to be considerate. From my perspective,I am more favor of the former one.

When it comes to the area of business, leaders have to acclimatizethemselves to the constantly changing environment and respond soon enough tograsp the chance. A number of examples can be found around us to demonstrate theexceptional urgency of making quick decision. Mark Zuckerberg made a quickdecision to acquire Instagram, which turned out to be bold but successful, givenTwitter, one of Facebook’s strongest competitors, had already considered tomerge Ins. Besides, the landslide of Apple over Nokia, one of the giants in thephones’ market can prove the importance of responding quick for leaders. Thoseleaders of conventional ideas in Nokia stuck to manufacturing keyboard phonesand still refused to center on developing and researching Touch-screentechnology, which has proven to be a big mistake. As a result, Nokia had todeclare bankruptcy. When reflecting on the failure of Nokia and success ofApple, the key is to make a quick decision to reform products to satisfyconsumers’ tastes and demands.

Speaking of national leaders, making a swift and effective decision will behighly indispensable to deal with various emergencies. To prevent theexacerbation of some events, politicians have to take quick and credibleactions. For instance, the outburst of Ebola virus has caused serious damage tohuman beings and as a leader of a country, he has to make an instantaneousdecision to assemble medical experts and restrict the migration movement ofpopulation. Another convincing example would be the military action aiming atISIS, a self-proclaimed country but a terror organization. The president of theUnited States called on Britain and several other Western countries to launch ajoint military strike to crack down those terrorists after many innocentcivilians including journalists, local residents or tourists from differentcountry were killed by those extremists. Although the terror group was not wipedout yet, the immediate action had played a major role in reducing threats fromthose. Obviously, for politicians and national leaders, it is necessary to takequick action.

Admittedly, there is also an opposite voice echoing that leaders have to bepatient to reduce the possibilities of causing missteps. For instance, duringWorld War Two, to win the success, Franklin Roosevelt gave the order to hitJapan by dropping atomic bombs soon after the Pearl Harbor was attacked. Theexplosion of those two atomic bombs led Japan to surrender, however, caused hugedamage to local environment. It appears plausible, however, the consequences ofnot using atomic bombs would be more disastrous because of Japan militarism’sgreat harm to the entire human beings.

To conclude, leaders have to make a response and decision as quick aspossible in most occasions no matter which field they are in.

    托福考试作文独立写作范文:大学应加强设施建设还是招聘好老师

Do you agree or disagree: the universities should spend more money inimproving facilities (libraries, computer labs) than hiring famous teachers.

    写作参考一:

Cradles of cultivating talents, universities are supposed to provide mosthigh-caliber education. Responding to the expectation, universities have tothink the issue over. Compared with hiring more teachers, from my ownperspective, keeping facilities and resources in the universities most advancedand updated is more essential not only for students but also for renownedprofessors.

First of all, students are able to enjoy a better study environment iftheir schools utilize advanced equipment. With the assistance of exquisiteinventions such as electronic screen and projectors, as well as laboratoryequipment, like microscopes and chemical reactors, studying would no longer be atedious and repetitious information engrafting process, but a way everyone wouldlike to get involved in. Similarly, definitions and formulas of physics andchemistry will graven in students’ minds deeply if they are aided by theequipment when experimenting. However, hardly can professors crystalize abstractconcepts into definite ideas without advanced teaching devices.

What is more, as for famous teachers themselves, a university that does notinvest in its facilities would be appealing. To be constantly enthusiastic onresearching their respective academic fields, teachers have a great demand forexquisite facilities to maintain progressing on their own fields. The mostsophisticated technological devices offered in universities enable theseteachers to conduct successful researches and remain at the top, which is reallyattractive to those renowned professors. By contrast, old and obsolete teachingand studying facilities will certainly not inspire teachers to keep furtheracademic researching. Also, practically impossible will teachers have interestin making progress.

Granted, it is conceded that hiring more teachers in universities meansguaranteeing education quality in some sense because every student will beconcerned and cared about. Even slightest and most subtle academic performancechanges of students will be noticed; therefore, teachers can encourage and guidefrustrated and upsetting students in time. However, while weighing the benefitsbrought by investing in facilities and hiring more teachers, we can concludethat facilities are more worthwhile.

In conclusion, I should reiterate that universities should update theirfacilities, making a top priority. Without advanced facilities, a universitywill not be helped further improved.

    写作参考二:

Advanced facilities, like libraries, research center, university hospitalare indispensible parts of a good university while famous teachers are also abig component of a prestigious higher institution. Personally, I think it isbetter for universities to spend more money in hiring famous professors.

Admittedly, research centers can be a place where advanced technology isincubated, a library that incorporates state-of-the-art technology can also beconducive to students' study, however, I still believe that famous professorsplay a more significant role in assessing the reputation of a university.

First off, well-respected professors in a specific field can bring lots ofbenefits not only to the whole community but also to the university. To morespecific, prestigious professors can come up with theories and solutions to themost intriguing problems faced by human beings, like treatment of cancers, diabetes and even heart attack. Economists can use data and economic models intheir empirical study to predict the economy, and it can provide lots ofinformation for the authority to make timely adjustment to their policies.Electronic engineers can design some micro-chips that can sustain large-scalecomputation. The benefits that professors bring to the school can be alsoenormous. For instance, a Novel Prize laureate can attract countless researchfoundations and donations from both the private and public sectors, with thislarge sum of money, the university can in turn renovate labs, research centersand even libraries.

Additionally, well-established professors and researchers can educate andenlighten brilliant young students and cultivate future scientists. Famousprofessors are usually expert in education, they might have been teaching andresearching in their field for more than a few decades, thus have accumulatedlots of rich teaching experience and developed the most effective teachingapproach. Together with their superb charisma, lots of bright young adults willbe motivated and inspired and therefore embark on the road of scientificendeavor and exploration. Such inspirations and motivations cannot be brought byimproved facilities. Indeed, it is the expertise and charisma of these famousprofessors that attract thousands of brilliant young students to enroll in acollege.

To conclude, hiring more famous professors are more advisable thanrenovating facilities since the scientific discoveries brought by professors canbring colossal benefits to both the community and the university, and also theexpertise and charisma of well-established professors can attract, enlighten andcultivate future scientists.
